On June 23, 2007 Gaspar Oliver made the trip to Delaware to compete in the Diamond State Championships. With just 8 months of training Gasper entered the no-gi light weight beginner division. He won his first match in 33 seconds which advanced him into the finals. In the finals it took Gasper all of 35 secnds to submit his opponent to take 1st place.
